The XII International Youth Industrial Forum "Engineers of the Future – 2024" Held in the Tula Region

The XII International Youth Industrial Forum "Engineers of the Future – 2024" was held in the Tula region. Every year the event brings together talented young specialists under the auspices of the Union of Machine Builders of Russia. The forum is attended by around 1,000 participants from 70 countries. TMH IS was represented on the TMH team by Technical Director Anton Vasilyev, Lead Design Engineer Dmitry Cherkasov, and Head of the Development Department Dmitry Volkovsky. They gave lectures as part of TMH's "Advanced Design" educational program. In the lecture "Approaches to Ensuring Functional Safety in Train Traffic Control Systems," Anton Vasilyev spoke about the key aspects of ensuring functional safety in train traffic control systems. He dwelt in detail on risk analysis methods, the design of fault-tolerant systems, and modern approaches to software development. "Ensuring a high level of functional safety is a critically important task in the development of train traffic control systems. The slightest failure or error can lead to serious consequences, so engineers must apply the most up-to-date methods to guarantee the safety of passengers and cargo, as well as ensure the required capacity of railway lines," noted Anton Vasilyev.

As part of the national scientific and technical conference "Inzheny" (the TMH Group youth movement "Generation INZHEN" is a community of young and driven engineers, machine builders of the 21st century!), participants presented their projects addressing real production, technical, and economic problems. The projects are not merely theoretical models, but real innovative developments capable of changing existing approaches to many pressing issues of production organization.

In the TMH exhibition tent, at the youth forum "Engineers of the Future", a lecture titled "Designing Control and Automation Systems Using New Technologies" was given by TMH IS Lead Design Engineer Dmitry Cherkasov. In his talk, he spoke about modern approaches to designing railway transport control systems using the latest technologies: machine vision, spectral analysis, data generation and modeling, and automatic train operation. He paid particular attention to the fact that the main goal is to build an integrated system to improve transport operation, rather than simply introducing new technologies — it is important to know the industry's limitations, standards, and operating specifics. "At TMH IS, we develop systems using machine vision technology and predictive onboard diagnostic systems. We try to do this in a way that makes systems more efficient and improves the safety of rail transport operation." "Designing a product requires the joint work of specialists who are not afraid of change, are ready to listen to and learn from one another, and are able to learn from others' mistakes. Time today is too valuable," Dmitry Cherkasov noted in his address to young specialists.

As part of TMH's educational program, at the "Engineers of the Future – 2024" youth forum in Tula, Dmitry Volkovsky, Head of the Development Department at Transtelesoft LLC (part of TMH IS), delivered a lecture. His presentation was devoted to the topic: "Safety Ensured by Technological Development." He told young specialists about the key technologies that reliably ensure the safety of rail traffic. These include the "BORT" locomotive traffic safety system, automatic train operation technology, "Virtual Coupling," machine vision systems, and onboard neuromodules for monitoring the driver's performance and condition.

"The introduction of advanced technologies allows us to significantly increase the level of safety in rail transport," noted Dmitry Volkovsky. "For example, modern Russian automatic train operation systems energy-efficiently and safely drive trains at speeds of up to 200 km/h in Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, on locomotives manufactured by both Russian and foreign producers. At the same time, the safety of both manual and automated train operation is effectively ensured by modern Russian onboard traffic safety systems. This is especially important amid the continuous growth of passenger and freight traffic," noted Dmitry Vitalyevich.
