New "Bort" train safety solutions from Transtelesoft warmly received at ALMATY depot

In the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the Almaty locomotive depot, testing of a new technical solution from Transtelesoft was successfully carried out. The design features of the "Bort" locomotive safety system's digital platform made it possible, for the first time, to combine the display of the safety device and the automatic-driving system on a single touchscreen LCD display. Previously, the driver had to focus attention on two separate monitors, which also duplicated part of the information needed for work. From December 15 to 26, 2021, together with representatives of Transtelesoft and AVP Technology, control operational runs with passenger trains were carried out on the Almaty–Sary Ozek section on ТЭП33А locomotives, using automatic-driving systems for up to 92% of the trip. As a reminder, starting with locomotive ТЭПА No. 0021 and above, these locomotives, in place of the morally outdated KLUB-U safety devices, have been equipped at JSC "Lokomotiv Qurastyru Zauyty" with the new-generation "Bort" locomotive safety systems.

The integrated solution was warmly received by drivers and got positive feedback. When moving light-engine, when the automatic-driving system's operation is not needed, a convenient menu — similar to that of a modern smartphone — provides the ability to switch the "Bort" safety device into standalone mode. Artem Bikuzhin, Senior Driver-Instructor for training locomotive crews at the Almaty depot, a branch of JSC "NC KTZ GP," noted: "Using the information from two systems related to controlling and monitoring the train's movement is a simple, yet at the same time brilliant, solution that supports the driver's demanding work. Eliminating a separate monitor for the automatic-driving system not only makes information easier to perceive, but also reduces the overall likelihood of failures."

The value of this solution is also reinforced by the economic factor, which favorably affects the costs incurred by the customer, JSC "NC KTZ."
