Locomotive drivers in Kazakhstan praise new solutions in the "Bort" train safety system

Video: (watch)

From September 8 to 20, 2022, test runs were carried out on the Almaty–Sary Ozek section by developers from Transtelesoft LLC, AVP Technology LLC, and Transtelesoft's onboard system maintenance service, together with representatives of the customer, JSC NC KTZ, on ТЭП33А locomotives equipped with the USAVP automatic-driving system integrated with the "Bort" locomotive train safety system.

The new solution is rated positively by all locomotive drivers, whose attention used to be split between two monitors.

Now the automatic-driving system's information screen is placed on the "Bort" safety system monitor, and data is entered using a touchscreen keyboard on a single OMI monitor.

During the test runs, the transmission of speed values to hundredths of a unit from the Bort system to the automatic-driving system was successfully verified for the first time.

On this challenging stretch of track, with long climbs, winding sections and descents, trial operation of the new solutions continues, with developers' representatives on hand to train drivers in the automated train-driving modes.

Electronic maps are being prepared for all ТЭП33А locomotive operating sections in order to further roll out the technology.
